In order to let international students experience the festive and peaceful atmosphere, the care and warmth of the university of Chinese New Year, the International Office (International College) together with the School of Economics, the School of Management and the School of Civil Engineering carried out the greetings activity of “International Students Celebrating the Year of China”. Lu Pengyu, Party Secretary of School of Economics, Chen Desheng, Vice President of International College, Wu Haiping, Counselor of International Students, and teachers of School of Management and School of Civil Engineering, gathered together with international students to welcome the Spring Festival.
In the dormitory, the teachers and international students dressed up the dormitory with red Chinese knots and pasted up the character of Fu, creating a joyful festive atmosphere and making the international students experience the traditional culture with unique Chinese New Year elements. Lu Pengyu and Chen Desheng wished overseas students to work hard and make great achievements in the Year of the Rabbit in both Chinese and English, and presented the New Year’s gift.
Maria, an international student from Russia, said, “Although we have been at the school for less than a month, we have deeply felt the care and help from the school leaders and teachers, which makes us feel incredibly happy and warm.” Cindy, an international student from Guinea-Bissau, said, “I have been studying in China for two years. I am very happy to study and live here, and I have learned a lot about Chinese traditional culture. Wuhan is my second hometown.” Lu Pengyu inquired about the study and living conditions of international students in detail to find out whether there are difficulties in life. He said that the school would provide strong guarantee for international students during the winter vacation, and told everyone to send Chinese New Year blessings to their families thousands of miles away.
