School of Civil Engineering and Architecture Helds "Welcoming the New Spring, Fostering Exchange" International Student Symposium

With the spring festival approaching, festive atmosphere grows stronger.On the afternoon of January 8th, the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture held an  international students symposium titled"Welcoming the New Spring, Fostering Exchange" .Chen Desheng, Vice Dean of the School of International Education, members of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture’s leadership team, graduate supervisors, counselors and international students gathered to share their holiday plans and exchange their aspirations for the coming year. 

 

The symposium kicked off with the jubilant melody of the “Spring Festival Overture”. Liu Jiesheng, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, extended a warm welcome to students from Morocco, Zambia, Bangladesh and other countries. He introduced traditional Chinese New Year customs in detail and expressed his hope that the students would deliver the blessings of the Chinese Lunar New Year to their families and friends back home, wishing them a joyful Spring Festival in 2025.  

Qin Xiantao, Assistant Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, explained important matters regarding holiday safety, emphasizing the importance of compliance with laws, regulations, and university rules. He encouraged students to maintain disciplined study and lifestyle habits, manage their time wisely and prepare academic plans for the next semester.  

Samadi Fahadurahman, an international student from Afghanistan, shared his learning experiences since arriving in the university. He expressed his determination to cherish his time at the university, study Chinese diligently, immerse himself in Chinese culture and strive to work in China after graduation.  

Chen Desheng addressed questions raised by the students and offered advice on holiday planning, thesis research, and graduation internships. He assured attendees that the School of International Education would provide more convenience for their studies and daily life,ensuring high-quality and efficient support services.

The symposium was filled with laughter and lively conversation. Du Dianchu, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, presented Chinese knots to the students. He explained that the character "福" (Fu) on the knots symbolizes not only good fortune but also academic success, while the koi fish design represents "abundance year after year."He wished all the international students safety prosperity and academic achievements, hoping they would enjoy a joyful and fulfilling Chinese New Year celebration .
