In September 20, 30 outstanding students in our University went to study for a short time in Southern Utah State University in the United States and they returned with harvest and joy.This study tour was from August 22nd to September 20th, which lasted 28 days.
The study tour activities including American higher through general education, higher professional education in the United States, accommodation family life experience, indoor and outdoor activities for students and schools visit five modules. The general education mainly focuses on the history of the United States, US domestic politics and critical thinking, academic system, music, culture, the presidential system, art, campus law enforcement, student leadership,creative practice and so on. According to these activities, students learned a full range of empathy in American higher education teaching and campus culture. In professional education module, the students learned different professional knowledge.They observed the experimental class, and they experienced the local education model. In order to fully experience the American culture and customs, the students lived into local American family.they lived with local family for three weeks.They learned about American culture and family ethics, and they got deep friendship. At the same time, the students also participated in a variety of student activities, they rocked climbing Canyon Park, learned shipbuilding, went to community children's toy factory for the production of the world's poor children free toy car, learned about famous American Zion national Park topography, danced with American students and participate in various recreational sports activities. All the classes were experienced, teachers were responsible,they used innovative teaching methods, theory and practice, and they focused on stimulating students' creativity, students learned a lot.
To tie in with the training courses, the study tour also arranged the students to visit the Stanford, Harvard, Yale, MIT and other America's top universities, and visited San Francisco, Boston, New York and other American cities, so that students from different angles experienced the United States social culture and life, thus they opened international vision, deep the student's understanding of humanistic education in the United States, economic and political status of the field as well.
With the launching of the study-tour project, the university is aiming at promoting the talented, opening the students' eyes up for a better international view while training them to be of both high morality and creativity. Meanwhile, students are exposed to intercultural experience of high quality, including studying and cultural communication, through which they are expected to be better devoted in their studies and daily life with their personal development improving.
