Viewing Millennia-Old Cultural Artifacts Spreading Chinese Civilization School of Humanities and Communication organizes a visit to Hubei Provincial Museum for Russian students

On October 10th, 2023, the School of Humanities and Communication of Wuhan Polytechnic University organized a visit to Hubei Provincial Museum for Russian students to have a study tour, to enable them have a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and experience the long history of Chinese civilization from abundant cultural artifacts.

The Russian students visited the permanent exhibitions one after another with great interest, including skull fossils of ancient Yunxian Man in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in the Paleolithic Age, the prehistoric culture of Qujialing in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in the Neolithic Age, the civilization of Panlongcheng in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in the Shang Dynasty(1765-1123BC), the Tomb and Chime Bell of Marquis Yi of Zeng State of the Warring States Period(475-221BC), the Sword of Goujian in Yue State of the Spring and Autumn Period(770-476BC), the Bamboo Strips in the Qin and Han Dynasties(221BC-AD220) of the Warring States Period, the Lacquer Art in the Qin and Han Dynasties, the Tomb of Prince Liang Zhuang(his posthumous name was Zhuang, and his official title was Prince Liang) in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644AD), the Ancient Porcelain in the Art of Earth and Fire and Luminaries in Jing and Chuancient name of Hubeiduring a century.

Tang Yi, an international student, visited the Sword of Goujian in Yue State and said, "I have known the story of the 'King's Sword' before visiting the museum, and today I finally fulfill my desire, and I can still feel the majesty of the sword through the glass." An international student Anna said, "It seems that I could hear wonderful music played by the bells and see people dancing with musical accompaniment." All the international students saw, discussed and inquired about cultural artifacts with great interest. They sincerely admired Chinese civilization, and were shocked by the richness of Chinese culture. Therefore, they regarded this tour as a great experience.

It is reported that the School of  Humanities and Communication in Wuhan Polytechnic University has designed a series of courses on Chinese language, culture and history for international students, and this visit to the Hubei Provincial Museum is one of the arrangements for teaching activities, in order to tell China's stories better and spread the voice of China with historical and cultural heritage, so that the international students can have an in-depth understanding of China's traditional culture, enhance the friendship between China and other countries in the world, and foster cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
