Associate Professor Jonathan Holiman from Southern Utah University Delivered an Academic Lecture

On October 31, Associate Professor Jonathan Holiman from Southern Utah University delivered an academic lecture titled "Experiential Learning Strategies" in the lecture hall of Jinyinhu Campus of Wuhan Polytechnic University for young teachers. Over one hundred young teachers from the School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Mathematics and Computer Science, School of Management, School of Economics, School of Art and Design, School of Humanities and Communication, School of Foreign Languages, participated in the lecture.


Professor Jonathan first introduced experiential learning strategies, and demonstrated how to apply them in classrooms and internship practice from various aspects such as motivating students’ enthusiasm, implementing multi-sensory heuristic teaching, emphasizing students’ learning process, and applying theoretical knowledge to work practices. During the lecture, Professor Jonathan frequently   exchanged and interacted with teachers friendly. And teachers listened attentively, took notes carefully. Teachers also began to ponder how to use experiential learning strategies in class and after class,to enable students to achieve academic success and to truly improve their professional skills and practical experience.

It is reported that Associate Professor Jonathan has more than 10 years of teaching experience and is the author of the book Introducing Communication: A Digital Learning Experience. He has also taken students to study abroad many times, traveling to Tonga, Fiji, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Portugal, and has rich experience in international exchanges. During his visit to our school, he will teach two courses, Introduction to Advertising and Public Relations, and Critical Thinking and Information Analysis, to students in Sino-US Cooperative Education Program in Advertising.

This international academic forum will further improve young teachers English communication skills, and provide a broader international academic exchange platform. Consequently, it will enhance the international perspective and cross-cultural communication abilities of teachers, and cultivate more talents with international competitiveness.
